A I nserting and removing your CIELO 2 Active Make sure that your hearing instrument is turned off by ope- ning the battery compartment to the first stop (page 6). Hold the receiver with the dome between your thumb and index finger and insert it carefully into the ear canal.

Handling standard and rechargeable batteries Battery insertion and removal You can either use a standard battery or a rechargeable battery in your CIELO 2 Active hearing instrument. Always use a size 13 battery. If using a rechargeable battery, you need to charge it before first use.

Handling standard and rechargeable batteries Swivel open the battery compartment door. Insert the proper size battery into the battery compartment door so that the “+” symbol on the battery coincides with the “+” marked on the battery compartment. Close the battery compartment by gently pressing the bottom of the door upward with your fingertip.

Removing Normally the battery drops out when the compartment is completely open. If the battery does not come out, lightly tap on the case. Low battery indicator Your hearing instrument may be programmed to inform you when the battery is nearly empty. If you hear an intermittent series of beeps or experience low amplification power, replace or charge the battery.
Note: Do not attempt to charge standard, nonrechargeable batteries! The CIELO 2 Active charger is simple to operate. You can place two hearing instruments with attached receiver units and domes in the charger at one time. A charging cycle takes around 5 hours. The charger shuts itself off when the charging cycle is completed.

Each LED indicates the functional states of the corresponding charging slot 3a / 3b. When you place your CIELO 2 Active hearing instrument in one of the charging slots and the lid is closed, the instrument is switched off and the recharging process automatically initiated.

Change the batteries or recharge when any of the following occur: Volume of your instrument becomes softer or weak You hear the low battery beeps ePocket display shows empty battery status Warning: Keep batteries and instruments out of the reach of children.
Using the domes Your dome includes an integrated C-Guard wax protec- tion system. Cleaning Cerumen (ear wax) on the dome or C-Guard may affect sound quality. Listen for any changes. If wax has built up, it can be removed easily with a soft tissue.

Replacement of the dome Holding the receiver unit in one hand, grasp the dome between the thumb and index finger of your other hand. Then re- move the dome from the receiver. The new dome is delivered in a box. Leave the dome in the box and press the tip of the receiver unit into the new dome as shown in the picture.
Using the clip-on cover The clip-on cover is a barrier that protects your micro- phones from sweat, humidity and moisture. Change the clip-on cover when the sound is diminished or the clip-on cover is soiled. Removing Notice: The clip-on cover can be damaged easily when bend over too much.
Replacing the receiver unit Note: The receiver unit can be changed as needed by your Hearing Care Professional. If you need to replace the re- ceiver unit by yourself follow these directions carefully. Remove receiver unit Hold the instrument in one hand and turn the receiver unit with the other hand carefully to the left (45º) and remove it.
– the wireless remote control Your CIELO 2 Active hearing instrument supports ePocket, the bidirectional remote control from Siemens. With ePocket, you can change the program and volume of your hearing instrument and read out the instru- ment settings. For further information about ePocket, contact your hearing care professional or refer to the ePocket user guide.
Your CIELO 2 Active hearing instrument requires very little maintenance except for daily wiping with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use water, alcohol or other solvents on your CIELO 2 Active instrument, and never immerse it in water. For further instructions on cleaning and maintenance of your CIELO 2 Active, consult your hearing care professional.
Important notes Caution: As with all electrical, non-gas-encapsulated systems, the hearing instrument should not be operated in rooms where there is a danger of explosion. Do not wear your hearing instrument during short-wave therapy, or in conjunction with medical treatments that use strong magnetic or high- frequency fields, such as magnetic resonance tomography and x-rays, or near microwave ovens.
